Grievance Redressal System
Introduction
In order to redress individual as well as collective grievances-general in nature, and also related to ragging and sexual harassment of the students and the staff-a Grievance Redressal mechanism has been devised by the institution. Staff refers to all academic and non-academic staff members.
As per the rules and regulations addressed by the UGC/ AICTE/BAMU, the College Grievance Redressal Committee of Smt. Dankuwar Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jalna has been constituted to enquire into the nature and extent of grievances.
What is a Grievance?
A grievance may be any kind of discontent, dissatisfaction, or negative perception, whether expressed or not, arising out of anything connected with the college that a student or staff thinks, or even feels, is unfair, unjust, or inequitable.
Committees to Redress Grievances
The committee has three layers working separately to address specific issues:
1. General Grievance Redressal Committee
Handles grievances of students and staff occurring during general functioning. The Principal acts as the Chairperson, with a senior faculty member as Convener.
2. Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee
Dedicated to preventing sexual harassment on campus. It includes faculty, students, and external members like a legal adviser, social worker, and medical doctor.
3. Anti-Ragging Committee
Observes and regulates cases related to ragging. It ensures a safe environment for all students through strict regulation and vigilance.
Mechanism of Governance
These committees work under the control and guidance of the Principal. Grievances are collected through:
- Grievance boxes placed at various places in the campus
- Oral or written submissions in person
- Cases detected during the vigilance of the Discipline Committee
The Committee meets at least twice in an academic year, or more frequently in case of emergencies.
